Jason Starne is a Frisco, Texas bass angler, tournament competitor, and professional filmmaker based in Frisco, Texas. Growing up fishing private ponds and bank fishing lakes around Bossier City, Louisiana, Jason developed a passion for chasing largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and even the seasonal crawdad netting.
Today he competes in regional Texas tournament trails including the Team Trail Outdoors and BassChamps. Inspired by watching legends like Roland Martin and Bill Dance, Jason has long chased the dream of becoming a professional angler. Whether that dream ultimately comes true or not, he is committed to the pursuit and documenting the journey along the way.
Now in his sophomore year of tournament fishing, Jason approaches every event with the mindset of a student of the sport. Fishing and learning alongside accomplished angler Marc Schilling, he continues to refine his approach, understand fisheries, and improve with every cast.
Through his filmmaking background, Jason shares the experience through the Starne & Schilling Go Reeling fishing vlog, capturing both the triumphs and the lessons that come from competitive fishing.
Jason’s goal is to share stories from the water, helping new and inexperienced anglers learn from the wins, the mistakes, and everything in between.
Outside of fishing, Jason is the founder of SHOTCALLER, a Texas-based media and virtual production company. As a filmmaker and producer, he has worked on numerous film and media projects, combining storytelling and technology to bring compelling stories to the screen.
